Animated Photography in Natural Colours

This article was written by The Editor (William Gamble) for
Penrose's Pictorial Annual vol. XIV 1908-9, pages 129-132. The article describes the technical processes behind the system of animated photography in colour which had been developed by
G.A. Smith, at Urban's behest. The article was published after the colour system had been given its first public demonstration at Urbanora House on 1 May 1908, but before its commercial debut in February 1909, when it was first given the name Kinemacolor.
